A Little Background

My lifelong passion for alternative approaches to healing and personal transformation began with an exploration of herbal medicines and flower essences while still a teenager. I went on to train in reflexology and radionics and then graduated as a homeopath in 1988. My work became widely known through the homeopathic books I wrote and the talks and seminars I gave throughout the 1990's, many of which are still available in MP3 and CD formats.

In 1993 I co-founded
The Lakeland College as an expression of the ideal that learning healing skills must go hand in hand with the inner development of the student practitioner. I resigned as a director of the college in 2003 in order to pursue a growing interest in other forms of self-healing and inner growth.

Throughout my life I have been inspired by those pioneers who have developed innovative, simple and powerful ways to facilitate the healing process. Realizing the importance of emotional release as a crucial component of self-healing, I trained in Shen Therapy, developed by Richard Pavek, and later in Journey Process™ work with Brandon Bays. I also studied the release techniques developed by Lester Levenson, and the Emotional Freedom Technique pioneered by Gary Craig and others.

I have long considered that the key ingredient in any self-healing process is a transformation in consciousness. This has led me to make an extensive study of the works of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, Marion Woodman, R.D. Laing, Milton Erickson, Arnold Mindell and many others who have contributed to a deeper understanding of psychological and spiritual well-being. More recently I have been inspired by the Hakomi method developed by Ron Kurtz, and the Three Principles described by Sydney Banks.

I have travelled widely and been privileged to work with individuals and groups throughout the world. I was one of the first lecturers to teach homeopathy in Cairo, Egypt, and have been a regular vistor ever since. I have also given lectures, seminars and retreats in Australia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Serbia, Spain and the United States.

I have had a lifelong interest in the spiritual and mystical teachings from both the western and eastern traditions, and from ancient to modern times. I have a particular affinity with the taoist and zen traditions. My vision of healing is encapsulated in this excerpt from my book,
The Tao of Homeopathy:

‘True healing involves a growth in consciousness, an opening in awareness and a return to oneself. Everything else is symptom relief.’

Since retiring from homeopathic clinical work and The Lakeland College, I have developed a completely new practice, offering individual consultations to those who are looking to engage more deeply with their own growth process. I am presently taking an extended break from individual client work, whilst continuing to offer a regular programme of group
seminars and retreats, reflecting my most recent understandings about the healing journey. I am also a guest facilitator at numerous training establishments and for various groups and organizations throughout the world.
